Manager Terry Brown was happy just to see AFC Wimbledon progress after defeating Scunthorpe 1-0 in their FA Cup replay at Glanford Park.
Luke Moore netted the winner for the Dons in the 65th minute to set up a second-round clash at Bradford.
"We did not really get the ball down and play the way I wanted us to," Brown said.
"We can play much better, but the FA Cup is all about winning and getting through to the next round - and that is what we have done.
"They gave everything on Saturday against Swindon and they gave everything again tonight. We are in a transition stage defensively at the moment, but I thought we defended magnificently well.
"When you keep clean sheets it gives you a chance of winning matches. I was pleased with our goal and we had one or two other chances that we might have done better with."
