Bury's Peter Sweeney feels his side are ready to begin their season in earnest after concluding their transfer dealings.
The Shakers began the season well but saw Ryan Lowe and Damien Mozika snapped up on transfer deadline day, leaving manager Richie Barker short-staffed. His addition of David Amoo to the squad last week, on loan from Liverpool, marks the end of the turnover in players and Sweeney is happy to have a settled squad.
The midfielder told the Manchester Evening News: "It's always hard when you bring in new faces and the gaffer's had to shuffle things about.
"During pre-season you work so hard on everyone knowing their job and suddenly you've got three or four new faces.
"It's not an excuse but it is tough.
"Everyone's learning and we're working hard in training. It's a work in progress."
