Palace boss close to adding duo to his threadbare squad

Crystal Palace manager George Burley is close to adding two more players to his squad ahead of the new Championship season. The former Scotland boss, who was installed as Paul Hart's successor last month, is close to landing former Southend defender Adam Barrett and Wales international Andy Dorman following the capture of defender David Wright from Ipswich last week. Barrett made 247 appearances for the Shrimpers over six years. The 30-year-old had his contract cancelled by the Roots Hall club by mutual consent last week. Dorman is an attacking midfielder who scored 24 goals in 108 appearances over three years for the SPL side, before his contract expired this summer. Burley told the South London Press: "We're looking to complete a deal for Adam and his arrival will give us competition because the only centre-backs we've got are Claude Davis and Paddy McCarthy. "Andy is an attacking midfielder who can score goals and has been playing regularly in the Scottish Premier League. He's out of contract and we're hoping to complete that." Burley is hoping to bring in as many as seven new signings over the next couple of weeks after the Scottish boss was left with just 12 senior professionals at the Selhurst Park club.
