Ardley: I knew we'd come good

AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley never doubted his side would come good as they fought back to edge a 4-3 thriller against Cheltenham.

Jack Midson's winner for the hosts in the sixth minute of time added on was hard to take for opposite number Mark Yates, whose side had led 2-0 in the second half after strikes from Troy Brown and Jermaine McGlashan. Three goals in three minutes from the Dons then turned the game on its head, Danny Hylton notching twice either side of Jake Nicholson's effort. Jason Taylor looked like he had rescued a point for the Robins, but Midson's late strike crushed their hopes and left Yates searching for answers. "When we went 2-0 down we faced adversity," Ardley said. "We have been anxious and better away from home. "But we have worked all week on statistics, getting into the final third more, getting more shots off and when forwards are low on confidence and goals you have to keep that going to get our chance. "We worked hard all week and talked about the 'what ifs', but we lost our heads at one point in the first half and people were panicking on the ball and on the bench too. "I said we had to calm down and at half-time we tried to stay calm. "We didn't fold, we stayed positive, the substitutions worked well and we had 30 crosses and 17 attempts, which is what we worked on and we got our rewards for that. "We threw three up front, went for it and it worked. It's been a good start to a tough week."
