Edwin van der Sar has confirmed he will leave football at the end of the season to spend more time with his wife and Sky Bet are offering odds on who will succeed him as Manchester United's number one goalkeeper.
Sky Bet make Van der Sar's Polish understudy Tomasz Kuszczak 9/4 favourite to be in goal for the Red Devils' opening league game of next season but there is speculation that he may follow the Dutchman out of Old Trafford if he is overlooked.
New Danish signing Anders Lindegaard has expressed his determination to become the club's No.1 and is rated a 5/2 chance to become Alex Ferguson's first choice. Youth keeper Ben Amos is a 10/1 shot.
Speculation has suggested that United will look to sign another top-class keeper to directly replace 40-year-old Van der Sar and Scotland international Craig Gordon (12/1) is believed to be high on Fergie's shortlist. Liverpool's Pepe Reina (12/1) has also been linked with a move.
Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (8/1) is also said to be a target but United face competition for his signature from Bayern Munich.
Sky Bet's Helen Jacob said: "Sir Alex will need to act fast to bring in a competent replacement for his veteran keeper. We've left Van der Sar in the betting at 12/1 as it's possible that he may be persuaded to stay on if a suitable successor cannot be found."
