Perfection from Germany as Turkey climb above Belgium

Germany completed their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign with a 100 per cent record, allowing Turkey to climb above Belgium and secure a play-off place. Joachim Low's side look to be in ominous form ahead of next summer's tournament and were always too strong for Belgium as they claimed a 3-1 victory at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf. Mesut Ozil opened the scoring on the half-hour mark with Andre Schurrle effectively ending the match as a contest with the second just three minutes later. Mario Gomez added a third shortly after the interval with Marouane Fellaini's late reply for the visitors scant consolation as they slipped to third in the standings. Turkey climbed up to second in the Group A table as they ended their campaign with a narrow 1-0 home success over Azerbaijan in Istanbul.

Decisive

While they were rarely troubled by the visitors, their profligacy in front of goal made for a nervous night as they needed an hour to break the deadlock. Burak Yilmaz struck for the decisive goal after 60 minutes, firing home from Selcuk Inan's pass to ensure Guus Hiddink's men will be involved in the play-offs next month. Kazakhstan avoided defeat for only the second time in their qualifying campaign in a low-key goalless draw against Austria at the Astana Arena. In a clash between two nations who already had no chance of claiming a top-two berth in Group A, Austria dominated in terms of shots but clear-cut chances were few and far between at either end. The result left Kazakhstan bottom of the pool with four points from their 10 games while Austria finished in fourth spot with 12 points.
