Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has confirmed that he will recall Udinese striker Antonio Di Natale to face the United States in February.
Di Natale was Serie A's top scorer last season and has scored 13 goals in 19 games this term.
He has not played for the national team since the World Cup in 2010 but has taken advantage of injuries to Giuseppe Rossi and Antonio Cassano to earn his place.
Italy will play the United States in preparation for Euro 2012 and the Azzurri are one of the favourites to win the competition.
Meanwhile, Cesare Prandelli has invited second-tier Gubbio's defender Simone Farina to train with the squad as a reward for refusing a large sum of money to fix a match.
Farina was offered 200,000 euro to be part of a scandal in an Italian Cup game between Cesena and Gubbio last month.
Instead, the 29-year-old told the police of the offer and will join up with Italy's best players in a training camp next month.
Courage
Prandelli said: "I loved what he did; he has shown great courage and extraordinary inner strength.
"From a technical point of view, it isn't a real call-up. But what matters is the message.
"I have invited him to train with us and to remain with us for three days when we next meet.
"It's a way to say 'thanks' to him and to underline what it represents."
