Sky Bet Championship: Another Norwich fightback pleases Neil Adams

Norwich City manager Neil Adams had mixed feelings after watching his side come from 2-0 down to pick up a point in a 2-2 draw against Birmingham in the Sky Bet Championship encounter at Carrow Road.

The Blues took a shock lead on seven minutes when Callum Reilly's deflected shot deceived Canaries goalkeeper John Ruddy and doubled their advantage just before the interval courtesy of a cool finish from youngster Demarai Gray.

Norwich did not panic and were soon back on level terms thanks to a quick one-two from Blues' old boy Cameron Jerome. He got his new side back in it when he swept home Russell Martin's cross in the 52nd minute and scored again three minutes later after getting his head on Nathan Redmond's cross.

"You could say it is a point gained as well as two dropped," said Adams after Jerome's double had prevented a shock home defeat.

"Obviously I am pleased with the way the lads fought back from being 2-0 down - but at the same time I am disappointed we didn't go on to win the game.

"But I can't complain too much because we're now seven games unbeaten and are second from top in the league."

"I actually thought we played well in the first half. The first goal was a fluke and just spun away from John Ruddy.

"He says he should have saved it but he doesn't have to apologise because he has been superb for us this season. The second was down to some sloppy play and suddenly we are 2-0 down.

"There was absolutely no complacency on our part - things just didn't go for us.

"In the second half we finally got our reward and they were two superb goals from Cameron. The first looked like a tap-in but he had to guide the ball right into the corner for it to be a goal, and he showed great skill to do that.

"For the second he got perfect weight on his header to get it over the keeper and into the back of the net. "It was a real team effort today - the fans were excellent as well - and it's disappointing that we only ended up with one point."

Birmingham boss Lee Clark also had mixed emotions after the game.

"I'm delighted - but at the same time frustrated and disappointed," he said.

"I delighted with the overall performance of the lads - and the fact that we have come to a tough place like Carrow Road and taken a point.

"But obviously I am frustrated not to have taken all three points after being 2-0 up at half-time.

"Little things seem to be going against us at the moment and that happened with their first goal.

"Demarai Gray was suffering from stomach cramps at the start of the second half and wasn't able to cover Martin's run. We were trying to bring Brek Shea on but didn't have time.

"But there so many positives to take from this - we look a good team when we do things right.

"Today a mad five minutes cost us a win - but not many teams will come here and getting any sort of positive result."
