Team of the Week

Adam Bogdan - Bolton Wanderers
Despite not being one of the 26 goalkeepers who managed to keep a clean sheet at the weekend, Bolton's Adam Bogdan makes it into the team after an impressive performance against Reading. After his side took a deserved lead early on in the game at the Reebok, the Royals hit back with a penalty and, if Bogdan hadn't been in top form, the scoreline could have been a whole lot worse for the home side. The pick of his saves was perhaps an excellent stop from a close-range shot by Adam Le Fondre.
Kieran Trippier - Burnley
Burnley right-back Kieran Trippier rounds out this week's defence after his stellar performance in a 2-1 win away to Sheffield Wednesday. The young defender was in the thick of the action, first giving Ross Wallace space to cross for Danny Ings to head home the opener, then providing the assist for Sam Vokes with a sublime cross to the back post. Trippier nearly had a second assist when he played a good ball over the top for Vokes, but the striker could not control his shot.
Gabriele Angella - Watford
Watford fans could be forgiven for thinking they had signed another striker after Gabriele Angella's performance on Saturday, with the new centre-back scoring two goals that any forward would have been proud of. Angella, brought in from Udinese in the summer, twice gave Watford the lead as they stormed to a 6-1 victory at home to Bournemouth. The former Italy Under-21 international also looked good at the back when called upon, providing Hornets fans with more hope that they can go one further than last season.
Joe Walsh - Crawley Town
Two goals in an entertaining 3-3 draw away to Tranmere Rovers ensures Crawley Town defender Joe Walsh grabs the other centre-back place in this week's team. Although there are clearly some defensive frailties to be worked upon for both sides, Walsh rectified his side's errors with a couple of well-taken goals. Walsh's goalscoring efforts mean that Crawley remain unbeaten in the season, but it could have been much more for the League One club.
Jack Robinson - Blackpool
On-loan Jack Robinson displayed both his attacking and defending abilities to produce a solid all-round performance and help Blackpool to a narrow victory at home to Barnsley. Robinson, on a season-long loan from Liverpool, provided the assist for the winner after his long throw in the 94th minute deflected off Scott Wiseman and past a stranded Luke Steele in goal. The left-back looked comfortable all match and his late assist ensured the seaside club maintained a 100% record this season.
Tommy Rowe - Peterborough United
Peterborough United captain Tommy Rowe grabbed a goal and an assist as his team brushed aside Notts County at Meadow Lane. Rowe provided the spark that saw Posh overturn a 1-0 deficit, first scoring the equaliser with a glancing header and then playing a neat pass through to Tyrone Barnett who calmly made it 2-1. The home defence could not handle the winger's good movement and passing, meaning he continued to be a constant threat all afternoon.
Peter Murphy - Accrington Stanley
Although Peter Murphy primarily plies his trade as a centre-back, the 23-year-old Accrington Stanley player bagged a brace of goals in an entertaining 2-2 draw at home to Portsmouth. His first has to be an early contender for goal of the season, a beautifully placed curler from 30 yards out after good work from Danny Webber. In stark contrast, his second was the easiest goal he'll ever score, nodding home from a yard out to salvage a point and cap a wonderful performance.
Rodolph Austin - Leeds United
Leeds United and Leicester may have played out a drab 0-0 draw at the King Power Stadium, but no one told that to Rodolph Austin. The Leeds powerhouse dominated the midfield, putting in tough tackles and chasing down loose balls to ensure his side didn't fall behind. Austin, in his first game as captain of the Championship club, led by example and repaid the faith shown in him by manager Brian McDermott. Whilst the winner didn't come for Leeds, they should be happy with four points from their two tough opening games.
Joe Thompson - Tranmere Rovers
It was a game of braces at Prenton Park as both Tranmere Rovers winger Joe Thompson and fellow Team of the Week entrant Joe Walsh, of Crawley Town, each bagged two goals in a 3-3 draw. After Walsh had opened the scoring, Thompson turned the game around with two well-taken goals. He lashed his first into the corner from ten yards out after a good knockdown, then capitalised on a poor clearance from the visiting goalkeeper, racing through to coolly finish and give the home side the lead just before half-time.
Billy Daniels - Coventry City
In the most entertaining game of the weekend, Billy Daniels scored twice, including the winner, as Coventry beat Bristol City 5-4 at Sixfields. In their first home game outside of Coventry in the club's history, Sky Blues forward Daniels made sure it was a happy occasion - despite nearly 8,000 fans choosing not to travel to the game. Daniels' first goal came on the stroke of half-time to give the home side a 3-0 lead, then hit the winner in the 87th minute after an outstanding comeback from the visitors.
Troy Deeney - Watford
With Angella scoring two of Watford's six goals, Troy Deeney might have been worried he was going to be shown up by a centre-back. However, not to be outdone, the Hornets' forward scored a second-half hat-trick to become the top scorer in the Championship so far this season. His second was by far the best of his goals, picking up the ball after a goalmouth scramble, turning and firing home from 25 yards. This goal was sandwiched between a classic one-on-one finish and a good penalty.
