Carl Ikeme - Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolves collected their third successive clean sheet on Saturday, with Colchester swept aside 3-0. Kenny Jackett's side have now secured five shut-outs this season and boast the best defensive record in League One. Ikeme is an experienced keeper who provides a reliable last line of defence, and proved his worth again over the weekend as he made amends for conceding a late penalty to deny Freddie Sears from 12 yards.
Mark Hughes - Morecambe
The game of the weekend came at the Globe Arena, with Morecambe hitting back from three goals down to stun League Two leaders Chesterfield. The Shrimps were a different side after the interval and staged a remarkable fight back to snatch all three points. Hughes helped them on their way, with his turn and shot just after the hour mark hauling Morecambe to within one of the visitors and setting up a grandstand finish.
Bondz N'Gala - Portsmouth
N'Gala went the entire 2012/13 campaign without finding the target for Stevenage or loan employers Barnet. He has, however, just equalled his best return for an entire season with a brace against Rochdale on Saturday. Portsmouth were grateful to two second-half efforts from the unlikeliest of sources as they claimed a 3-0 success, with N'Gala nodding home from two Ricky Holmes corners.
Steve Cook - Bournemouth
It proved to be an eventful weekend for Cook, as he found himself among the goals and involved in the major talking point of the Championship weekend during a home date with Millwall. The Cherries hit back from falling two goals behind early on to run out convincing 5-2 winners. Cook grabbed their second of the afternoon, restoring parity, before he was struck on the head by a coin thrown from the stands while celebrating Bournemouth's fourth.
Lee Collins - Northampton Town
Northampton recorded their first away goals of the season, and their first three-point haul since mid-August, with a shock 2-0 victory on the road at AFC Wimbledon. Collins put the Cobblers on their way to a much-needed win as he broke the deadlock 20 minutes in. Darren Carter floated over a delivery from a free-kick, and Collins was in the right place at the right time to poke over the line from close range.
Jack Compton - Hartlepool United
Hartlepool have been very hit and miss this season, with Colin Cooper's side having stumbled out of the blocks and offered only glimpses of what they are capable of in the final third. They enjoyed one of their better afternoons on Saturday, with four goals plundered away at Mansfield. Compton provided two of those efforts, netting either side of half-time - including a superb 20-yard free-kick - to wrap up the points.
Henri Lansbury - Nottingham Forest
Lansbury helped to swing momentum in Nottingham Forest's favour at Brighton within 60 seconds of the re-start. He rose highest to power in a bullet header to haul the Reds level at the Amex Stadium. Lansbury was also to have the final stay in an entertaining and full-blooded encounter, with the midfielder keeping a cool head to slam home from the spot on 62 minutes and put the finishing touches to a 3-1 win - which was seen out with 10 men.
Callum McGregor - Notts County
Notts County are starting to show signs of life after what has been a difficult and disappointing opening to the season. They collected a second win in three on Saturday as they outclassed Crewe 4-0 at Meadow Lane. McGregor was the man to provide the attacking spark, as he netted twice before the interval. A sweetly-struck 25-yard drive broke the deadlock, before McGregor doubled County's lead four minutes before half-time with a neat touch and controlled finish.
Leigh Griffiths - Wolverhampton Wanderers
Griffiths' exploits while on loan at Hibernian saw him return to Molineux over the summer with expectations raised. He has been charged with the task of spearheading Wolves' promotion push, and has not disappointed. He took his tally for the season to seven on Saturday with a deadly double against Colchester. His first arrived from the penalty spot, while his second was a well-controlled half-volley turned home from eight yards out.
Charlie Austin - Queens Park Rangers
Harry Redknapp's QPR have only netted 12 times in the Championship so far this season, and Austin has now got five of those goals. His value to an unbeaten cause cannot be underestimated, with QPR flying high in their bid to make an immediate return to the Premier League. Their summer signing from Burnley was at the double against Barnsley on Saturday - sweeping home a Junior Hoilett cross on 66 minutes and rifling in from the spot three minutes from time after being bundled over by Martin Cranie.
Danny Kedwell - Gillingham
Having got the goals which fired Gillingham to promotion into League One, the experienced frontman is now expected to replicate those heroics and keep the Gills in the third tier. He doubled his return for the campaign over the weekend as he bagged a brace in a five-goal thriller with MK Dons. Kedwell held his nerve on two occasions at Priestfield, with two emphatic first-half spot-kicks coming in the space of just 120 seconds.
