Smith delighted with response

Stevenage boss Gary Smith was delighted that Boro bounced back from their poor run of form with a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth on Tuesday.

Substitute Matt Tubbs came off the bench to salvage Cherries boss Eddie Howe's unbeaten record since returning to Dean Court from Burnley by cancelling out Greg Tansey's first-half opener. But Bournemouth should have been celebrating a sixth successive home victory after squandering a host of chances to snatch all three points in the League One clash. Smith said: "It was a really good point for us, especially after our resent results and the goals we have been conceding. The effort and spirit was there for all to see. "Bournemouth had plenty of chances to win but there was a question mark about their goal. First of all I thought our goalkeeper may have been fouled and Tubbs may well have been offside. "Nonetheless I am delighted with the point, which gives us a platform to take when we play Tranmere on Saturday in what will be another tough game."
