Bond given chance to impress

Colchester's Andy Bond has returned from his loan spell at Crewe and is set to play for the first time under boss Joe Dunne.

Bond's month-long stay with the Alex expired after the weekend, although he missed the last three games due to a groin injury. The 26-year-old is now fit again and expected to line up for the U's second string against Harlow in their Essex Senior Cup clash at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Tuesday night. Bond has been named in a strong 16-man squad which also includes the likes of Clinton Morrison, Freddie Sears, John-Joe O'Toole, John White and Bradley Hamilton. It will be the first time Bond has played under the watchful eyes of Dunne since his appointment as permanent boss in mid-September. Bond was loaned out to Crewe just 24 hours after Dunne, who was previously assistant to former manager John Ward, was handed the reins.
