Dale bring in defender on loan for the rest of the season

Stevenage defender Phil Edwards has secured a reunion with former manager John Coleman after joining Rochdale on loan until the end of the season. Edwards played under Coleman at Accrington Stanley and he made over 220 appearances for the club before leaving for Stevenage last summer. The 26-year-old has featured 26 times for the League One side this season, although half of his outings have been as a substitute. Following Stevenage's capture of Nottingham Forest defender Jamal Lascelles on loan on Friday, Edwards has been allowed to move to Spotland. He completed his temporary switch in time to appear as a substitute in Dale's 2-2 draw at promotion-chasing Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
