Paul Sturrock has slammed Southend for letting their two-goal lead slip after Plymouth came back to secure a 2-2 draw at Home Park.
Michael Timlin and David Martin both found the net to see the visiting Shrimpers coasting at half-time, but efforts from Nick Chadwick and Alex MacDonald levelled matters in the dying stages. Southend manager Sturrock had been hoping for an improved showing from his team after their 4-1 midweek home humiliation at the hands of Swindon, but in the end he was left bitterly disappointed. He said: "I have played and been involved in hundreds of games like that, where a team is so dominant and all of a sudden decides it is going to happen and then goes to sleep. That is what we did. "I also want to look on the positive side and we are still in the top three, second, and we will take a point because the aim is to win our home games and pick points up away. "If we do that we are going to be promoted."
