Westley takes the positives

Stevenage boss Graham Westley seemed happy despite the stoppage-time header that saw them draw 1-1 at Chesterfield.

The visitors took a 40th-minute lead through Darius Charles, but Jack Lester popped up in the seventh minute of added time to head an equaliser after the visitors had been reduced to 10 men following Michael Bostwick's dismissal. Westley, pleased with the way his players improved on last season's defeat 1-0 at the League Two champions, said: "I think the players showed the progress they have made since we came here in January. You can see the players have moved a long way forward. "So I think it was a progressive afternoon in terms of showing the progress we have made although it was a disappointing afternoon in terms of some of the decisions that seemed to go against us. "For the late goal, we will point fingers at ourselves for that, we should have defended better, the goalkeeper has held his hands up and said he should have done his job at the back post and you can only respect players who have that sort of honesty about them. "But I think most people around the game would say it was a winning performance from us on the whole. "There were a lot of positive contributions from lads who were stepping up to a new level and I think they are showing they are up to the job."
