Spurs youngster joins Charlton till the summer

Charlton have boosted their promotion bid by signing Tottenham youngster Dean Parrett on loan for the rest of the season. The 19-year-old midfielder has already had a spell in League One this season, playing 10 games on loan at relegation-threatened Plymouth. Parrett, who also played four games on loan at League Two Aldershot last season, has so far made two first-team appearances for Tottenham and signed a new three-year deal at White Hart Lane last August. He goes straight into the squad for Saturday's derby at home to Brentford, when Charlton will aim to close in on the play-offs. The Addicks go into the game in ninth place, 10 points off the top six but with three games in hand on MK Dons. Parrett was snapped up by Spurs as a 15-year-old in February 2007, with the Premier League club plucking him from QPR in a deal worth a reported £2million. The teenager has represented England at Under-16 and Under-17 level before helping them reach the semi-finals of last summer's European Under-19 Championship in France.
