Preston have secured the signing of Manchester United full-back David Gray on a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old Scottish defender, who has been at Old Trafford for six years, moves to Deepdale on a free transfer after his contract with United expired this summer.

Edinburgh-born Gray made just one first-team appearance for the Red Devils, but has enjoyed loan stints at Royal Antwerp and Plymouth.

The versatile youngster, who started as a winger but can play in a variety of positions, is delighted to join the Lilywhites on a permanent deal.

"I have been on loan for the last two seasons and now I have got a permanent move which I think I will enjoy," Gray told Preston's official website.

"They (Preston) have always been a solid Championship side for as long as I can remember. There are great traditions and it is a big club."

He added: "A full-back that likes to go forward is the best way that I can describe myself. I am a right-sided full-back who can also play wide on the right."
