Oxford manager Chris Wilder believes his side can build on last season's ninth-placed finish in League Two and push for promotion.

The U's appeared firmly in contention for a play-off place but faltered to end up four points adrift of the top seven, with Wilder suggesting injury problems contributed to the disappointment.

He told the club's official website: "If we can keep a fit and healthy squad this year, we have the quality to go close again.

"We feel that if we had all the forwards that we have now for the last 10 games of the season we would have got the necessary points."

Wilder also hinted there may be signings to come over the summer window following the departures of Asa Hall and Paul McLaren, adding: "We've been looking at new players since the end of last season and we hope to bring in one or two new midfielders."
