Poyet looking to land Pompey striker on short-term deal

Sky Sports sources understand Brighton have asked Portsmouth about the possibility of taking Dave Kitson on loan. The former Reading and Stoke striker has played a prominent role for Pompey this season, but speculation has suggested that he could soon be on the move. Kitson has sought to curb those rumours by insisting that he remains fully committed to the Fratton Park cause, but they refuse to go away. It is understood that Brighton are the latest side to set their sights on the 31-year-old, with Gus Poyet looking to bolster his attacking ranks. The Seagulls are keen to take Kitson on a short-term agreement, allowing both parties to have a look at one another before taking things further. Brighton have struggled for goals this season, netting just 26 times in 25 Championship fixtures. They have also failed to find the target in four of their last five league games, making the recruitment of a new frontman top of Poyet's list of priorities.
