Better news on Raynes knock

Rotherham defender Michael Raynes' injury suffered during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Northampton is not as bad as first feared.

The centre-half, signed from Scunthorpe in the summer, was carried off on a stretcher on the weekend with a suspected cruciate knee ligament injury. However, those fears have been eased this week with the problem settling and he could be fit for next week's FA Cup first-round tie at Barrow. "We think the actual knee itself is okay but he has a problem with his calf and Achilles so we think it is a case of nerve damage rather than muscle damage," manager Andy Scott said. "We are glad that it is not a major knee problem which we did in the first case. We are probably looking at a week before he is fit."
