Brown is available on a free transfer after leaving Bury earlier this summer following the expiration of his contract.

The 33-year-old was offered the chance to train with South African side Supersport United as they search for a new goalkeeper.

The South Africans have looked at goalkeepers from all across Europe, including one from Barcelona, but they have offered Brown a three-year deal after he impressed in training.

Brown is now discussing the move with his family and he is expected to make a quick decision on the offer from Supersport.

"It's a great opportunity. It's not often you get the chance to play your football abroad," Brown told skysports.com.

Superb

"During the World Cup it was clear to see the infrastructure is superb over there.

"Supersport are a very good side and I'm sure I will enjoy playing there.

"Obviously I will need to discuss it with my family and make a decision very quickly."

Brown's agent Jesse Learoyd-Hill confirmed the offer came as a shock and that the player was weighing up all his options.

"It's come as a bit of a bolt from the blue," Learoyd-Hill told skysports.com.

"We had heard there was interest but until you actually get a concrete offer you have to take these things with a pinch of salt."
