Defender unsure of his own future at Edgeley Park

Michael Raynes believes Stockport County team-mate Carl Baker deserves a proposed move to Coventry City as the defender waits for news on his own future. Stockport boss Gary Ablett recently revealed that attacking midfielder Baker, who has emerged as one of the best players in League One this season, is expected to join Coventry this month. Highly-rated stopper Raynes has also been linked with a move to a higher-placed club to ease the financial burden at crisis-torn County, who remain in administration. And while Raynes has heard nothing regarding a potential January exit for himself, he is happy to see Baker on his way to the Championship. Raynes said: "I've not heard anything about myself leaving, but we've all heard the rumours about Carl going to Coventry. "If he goes then I'd like to wish him all the best because he's an outstanding player and has earned the right to play at a higher level."
