Goalkeeper Wayne Brown has urged the Bury board to dig deep in a bid to boost their injury-ravaged squad.
The Shakers have six senior players in the treatment room and although manager Alan Knill is on the look-out for a suitable loan signing, he has limited resources to work with.
The club announced an annual loss of £115,861 at the end of last month and were denied a cash injection from the FA Cup following Saturday's first-round exit at Aldershot.
Despite their injury crisis, Bury have managed to recover from a slow start and climb to the brink of the play-off places, and Brown does not want to see that hard work go to waste.
"We had a small squad to begin with and now we've got three or four 16-year-olds on the bench, which is pretty amazing really," he told
skysports.com.
"We're doing all right but there comes a time when you need players - and that's now.
"Fingers crossed the board can find the finances for Alan to go and get some loan players, or maybe even get players in on free transfers.
"I've been at clubs where there's been so many injuries but I've never known anything like this for lack of players. That's the way football is sometimes, though - you just seem to get injuries continuously."

On-loan striker Tom Elliott was forced off with a hamstring injury in the 2-1 home win against Rotherham two weeks ago, leaving Ryan Lowe as the Shakers' only fit striker.
And although Knill has been told 18-year-old Elliott can return from Leeds when he regains full fitness, Brown is eager to ease the burden on seven-goal top scorer Lowe.
"Ryan's a good goalscorer but he's not a big target man," he added. "We need a big physical lad up there to support him and help him out.
"When Tom got injured I thought we'd miss him and we have missed a big lad up top the last two games.
"It does give you a different option and takes some weight off Lowey's shoulders.
"Things are a bit drastic but I think we can get through it because there's some good lads in the squad here and a good management team."
