Pick your team

As Roy Hodgson prepares to pick his team for Friday's crucial World Cup qualifier against Montenegro, we offer a possible line-up and invite you to discuss your own preferred XI in the comments section below...

What England starting line-up should Roy Hodgson pick on Friday? Have your say here.

It's a huge couple of games for England over the next week, beginning with Friday's clash against Montenegro at Wembley and culminating in next Tuesday's showdown with Poland at the same venue. Roy Hodgson has to get his team selection right as repeats of the draws away from home against the same opponents will not be sufficient to get the Three Lions to Brazil next summer. The need for victory might prompt a more attacking line-up from the England boss. Kyle Walker and Leighton Baines look set to provide added impetus from full-back with Glen Johnson and Ashley Cole unavailable through injury. Phil Jagielka and Gary Cahill are expected to continue at centre-back, while Joe Hart is certain to keep his place in goal despite doubts over his form. It's further forwards that the debate is likely to focus. With Theo Walcott out injured, Hodgson is faced with a choice between youngster Andros Townsend, playing Daniel Sturridge out of position or going with the safety-first option of James Milner. The latter's selection could allow Hodgson to accommodate Sturridge in a central role alongside Wayne Rooney thanks to Milner's defensive work. That would see Jack Wilshere revert to a deeper role alongside captain Steven Gerrard with Danny Welbeck expected to use his undoubted athleticism to work the left channel for his team. Don't agree?
