Transfer news: Cardiff have acquired Ravel Morrison on loan from West Ham

England U21 international Ravel Morrison has joined Cardiff on a short-term loan deal from West Ham which will run until Boxing Day.

The attacking midfielder joined the Hammers from Manchester United in January 2012 but is currently on the periphery of the first team picture at Upton Park.

And  the 21-year-old will therefore try to help kick-start a promotion challenge at Cardiff, who have slipped to 16th in the Championship after a promising start and are without a manager, following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

A statement on the Cardiff website read: "Ravel will be eligible to play in up to 15 Championship fixtures, including our game at Charlton on Boxing Day.

"All at Cardiff City Football Club welcome Ravel and look forward to seeing him in the City shirt soon."

Morrison spent time on loan at QPR last season and made a positive impact, although he was an unused substitute for the play-off final victory over Derby.

He has made two appearances for West Ham this season, starting a Capital One Cup tie at home to Sheffield United and coming off the bench during the 3-1 Premier League loss at home to Southampton.
