Hannover admit to being in the market for a new midfielder but deny that Chelsea's Marko Marin is a target.

Marin is reportedly expected to depart Stamford Bridge this summer after two largely forgettable years.

Snapped up from Werder Bremen in the summer of 2012, the 25-year-old struggled to make an impact during his debut campaign and spent the 2013/14 season on loan at Spanish side Sevilla.

Marin is now back at Chelsea, but a return to Germany, where he has previously shone for Borussia Monchengladbach and Werder has been mooted, with Hannover said to be leading the chase.

More from Summer Transfer Window 2014

General manager Dirk Dufner has, however, sought to distance his side from a player who remains under contract in England until 2017.

He told kicker-Sportmagazin: “We have been looking to sign attack-minded players this summer and we are out to sign further players.

“We have no interest in Marko Marin, and we will not pick up an interest in Marko Marin.”
