Lee Sinnott secures defender

Port Vale have secured the services of Dave Mulligan from Scunthorpe United. The defender, who had been on loan at Grimsby Town earlier in the season, has signed a contract that will keep him at Vale Park until the end of the current campaign. And the 25-year-old defender has expressed his joy at joining the League One club. Mulligan told the club's official website: "I got a call from my agent last night saying Vale were interested in me and I jumped at the chance to come.

Struggling

"Every time I have been here it has always been a good game and even though the team are struggling at the bottom, hopefully I can come in, maybe with a couple of other players, and start to do well. "I am good going forward and have scored a couple of free kicks in the past; I can play in a lot of positions, so I hope to make a difference. I can't wait to get my boots on at the weekend; I am really looking forward to it. "Hopefully I can come here, get a place in the first team and then if I do well enough, earn myself a new contract at the end of the season."
