Wolves defender keen to catch the eye

Wolves defender George Elokobi admits being called up by Cameroon is the proudest moment of his career. Elokobi has been named in the Cameroon squad for the first time for a training camp in France later this month as the Indomitable Lions prepare for their next African Cup of Nations qualifiers. The 24-year-old is looking forward to linking up with his country's squad and is hoping to catch the eye of coach Javier Clemente as he aims to become a regular in the side. "I was delighted to get the call to join up with my country for a training camp in France," Elokobi told skysports.com.

Huge honour

"It is a huge honour for myself and my family and it is definitely the proudest moment of my career so far. "Growing up it is always one of your ambitions to play for your country and I am no different. "I love my country, I love Cameroon and I am proud to be given the chance to play for my country. "I will go to the training camp and give 100 per cent and show the manager what sort of player I am. "I hope I can bring something different to the squad and I will do everything I can to become a regular for my country "If I do well hopefully I can win a place in the squad for the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations."
Improve
Elokobi believes playing for Cameroon can help him become a better player as he will be playing at the highest level with the likes of Samuel Eto'o. "Cameroon have a number of great players like Eto'o and obviously I can learn from them and become an even better player," added Elokobi. "Playing international football is the highest level you can play at and that is something I have always strived to do."
