Legendary defender calls retirement from international football

Cameroon legend Rigobert Song has confirmed his retirement from international football. The 34-year-old is Cameroon's most-capped player having represented the Indomitable Lions on 137 occasions. After playing once at the 2010 World Cup, defender Song has opted to call time on his representation on the international stage. "Men pass, the country remains," said Song, who made his Cameroon debut in 1993. "You have to quit things when you have to. "I leave this team with pride and I think I have accomplished a duty." Song is the youngest player to have been sent off at the World Cup - accomplishing the feat aged 17 in 1994 - and, alongside Zinedine Zidane, is the only player to have been sent off in two World Cups.
