Manager sees side struggle in dour Switzerland draw

Honduras coach Reinaldo Rueda felt his side's lack of experience at the World Cup was behind their downfall. The Latin American country finished bottom of Group H after only managing to scrape one point from their three matches. Narrow defeats to Chile and Spain did not disgrace the Hondurans and their draw against Switzerland on Friday ensured they at least restored some pride, along with a clean sheet. But Rueda's team failed to score and a noticeable lack of potency proved to be their undoing - even though they could still have qualified had they beaten the Swiss by enough goals and other results gone their way.

Inexperience

However, many star names - the likes of Wilson Palacios, Hendry Thomas and Maynor Figueroa - underperformed, and their coach felt stage fright got the better of them. "We could have come away with more than a point but we only got going once it was too late," said 53-year-old Rueda. "We failed to make the most of our chances. That's due to the inexperience of some of my players. "We tried to go things on our at times when it would have been better to look for a team-mate."
