Chile coach Claudio Borghi was sacked on Wednesday after a fifth successive defeat.
The South American side slumped to a 3-1 loss to Serbia in a friendly in St Gallen, Switzerland.
Lazar Markovic, substitute Filip Dordevic and Filip Djuricic put Serbia well in control before Chile's night got even worse when Arturo Vidal was sent-off.
Substitute Angelo Henriquez notched a late consolation for Borghi's side but it was not enough to save his job.
"They've asked me to step aside, I'm no longer the coach of the Chilean national team," he said after the game.
