Birmingham boss believes winger grows stronger with every game

Birmingham boss Chris Hughton has hailed Jean Beausejour's progress after the winger was heavily involved in a dramatic 2-2 draw with Club Brugge in the Europa League on Thursday night. A mistake from Beausejour led to the second Brugge goal before the Chile international scored the first goal for the Blues and won the penalty that allowed Marlon King to equalise. Beausejour has been instrumental in the club's recovery from Premier League relegation last season that saw the departure of over a dozen players in the summer transfer window. City's quest to reach the last 32 of the Europa League has been coupled with a six-game unbeaten streak in the Championship which they hope to extend against Reading on Sunday. "I thought Jean was excellent. It was Jean who gave the ball away for their second goal," Hughton said. "But we saw the fighting spirit in him and I think he felt he needed to do something (to make amends). "Jean has been good for us, getting stronger with every game, and that's what we want from him. "We want him to have an impact in games. That is what he is starting to have. He is an exciting player."
