Montpellier hoping highly-rated midfielder will agree new deal

Montpellier chairman Laurent Nicollin has revealed that the club are in talks with Younes Belhanda regarding an extension to his current contract. The 22-year-old is already tied to the club until 2014, but mounting interest in his services has offered cause for concern. The likes of Arsenal, Paris St Germain and AC Milan have all been linked with the Morocco international in recent weeks. Montpellier officials are aware of the rumours and are hoping to quash them with the penning of fresh terms.

Future

Discussions have already been opened and Nicollin is optimistic regarding the club's chances of persuading Belhanda to stay. "I can see him going far in the future, but not right now," he said in L'Equipe. "We are in talks to extend his contract. "There is no clear plan for the talks, but I don't believe that he wants to leave."
