Playmaker admits he rushed return from injury in the past

Karim Ait-Fana is hoping to be back to his best in the not too distant future, but insists he will not push himself too hard and risk suffering another injury. The talented playmaker enjoyed a productive start to life in Ligue 1 with Montpellier, with an impressive 2009/10 campaign earning him plenty of plaudits. He has, however, suffered with a succession of injuries since then, with a serious ankle problem in March 2011 and a number of muscular complaints having halted his progress. The former France U21 international, who is a product of Montpellier's academy system, feels he is close to recapturing his best form, though, with the club having been careful to ease him back into the fold following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Mistake

"When I returned to competition in January I hadn't played since March 2011, so I have savoured the moment," Ait-Fana told L'Equipe. "At first I was too impatient to come back. I strained a muscle three times after hardly ever suffering with injuries before. "I made a mistake, but I will not do it again. "Now I am looking to accelerate my improvement. I am not far away from being back to my best."
