Transfer news: Werder Bremen's Nils Petersen shrugs off Eintracht Frankfurt move rumour

Werder Bremen striker Nils Petersen has rejected talk that he is set to move to Bundesliga rivals Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 25-year-old moved to Bremen from Bayern Munich in May 2013 having found opportunities limited at the Bavarian club, and scored seven league goals in 2013-14.

Bremen ended the season in 12th place, one position ahead of Eintracht, who are looking for reinforcements up front after nine-goal forward Joselu moved to Hannover 96 following the end of his loan spell from Hoffenheim.

"I know nothing about a potential interest in my services from Eintracht Frankfurt," Petersen told BILD. "I am under contract from Werder Bremen, and my biggest ambition is to follow up my career at the Weserstadion.

Bremen general manager Thomas Eichin was also dismissive, adding: "Nils is part of our plans for the new season."

One player who has left Bremen is midfielder Lukas Schmitz, who has moved to Fortuna Dusseldorf in Bundesliga 2 for an undisclosed fee.

"Lukas has the qualities to help us in defence and attack," Fortuna general manager Helmut Schulte told his club's official website. "He can play various roles on the left and he will be a boost the quality of our squad."
