Freiburg have made Admir Mehmedi's loan move from Dynamo Kiev a permanent one, with the forward signing a contract over an unspecified term on Monday.
The Switzerland international scored 12 goals in 32 games for Freiburg last season and is currently preparing to represent his country at the World Cup this summer.
Freiburg had an option of signing him permanently when he arrived from Kiev last summer, and they have exercised this a day after signing Swiss goalkeeper Roman Burki from Grasshoppers.
"After a few initial difficulties, Admir Mehmedi has been able to prove his qualities, yet we still think he can get even better," said Freiburg's director of sport Klemens Hartenbach.
"We want to carry on along this path together. Signing Admir on a permanent contract is an important foundation of our squad planning for next season."
Mehmedi said that it "is a good thing" that he will be remaining with Freiburg next season.
"I'm pleased to carry on playing here," he said. "The club have placed a lot of faith in me and I've been able to pay this back too."
