Form should go out the window for a derby, and even more so for a major cup final, but Chelsea’s record in showcase games over the last two decades is unparalleled - and makes ominous reading for Tottenham fans.
Sunday’s Capital One Cup showdown against London rivals Spurs will be the Blues’ 17th major final since the start of the 1995/96 season, more than any other English side in that period.
In Jose Mourinho they have a boss who has lost just two of his 11 major finals during a glittering managerial career, but has only appeared at Wembley once, a 1-0 FA Cup final win over Manchester United in 2007.
Chelsea have won 12 of their previous 16 major cup finals since 1995, ahead of Manchester United's record of nine wins in 14.
Spurs have appeared in four finals over the past 20 years, all in the League Cup, winning two, beating Leicester in 1999 and Chelsea in 2008.
