Hasselbaink not worried by loss

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink insists there is "no need to panic" after his Burton table-toppers slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Newport.

A superb Miles Storey goal in the second-half sentenced Hasselbaink to back-to-back losses for the first time since he took charge in November. The Dutchman said: "It was always going to be a difficult game for us because they didn't play in midweek and looked fresher than us. "We weren't cute enough in certain areas and it just wasn't meant to be. "It's a pity that we have lost two games in a few days, but we have to move on from here. "We have to keep on believing in what we are doing and that what we are doing is the thing. There is certainly no need to panic. "If we keep on working as we usually do, we'll be fine." Hasselbaink admitted he was tempted to make changes after the midweek defeat at Accrington. He said: "It was something I contemplated, but in the end I decided I wanted to give the boys the chance to things right." It might have been a different story if Adam McGurk's 20-yard shot had not stayed out after hitting a post in the 34th minute. But the Exiles hinted at the threat they could pose on the break when home goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin had to produce a superb save to deny Mark Byrne. But there was nothing the Scot could do to prevent Storey securing the win with a fierce angled volley on the hour mark. The victory was the perfect end to week in which Jimmy Dack was told the Newport manager's job was his until the end of the season. And Swindon loanee Storey's goal had him purring with delight. Dack said: "Burton are a top team, there's no doubt about that. They press you and they force you into mistakes, which is why they're top of the league. "But we had a game plan, we stuck to it and we got our rewards in the end - and what a goal it was. "It was a seven-pass move followed by a fantastic finish, absolutely top-drawer and a goal worthy of winning the game. "Miles is full of life, full of energy and that's why we've extended his loan until the end of the season. The victory was the Exiles' seventh away from home and lifted them back into the play-off places. Dack said: "There are 13 games to go and we're just going to take it one game at a time. "I know that's a cliche but there's still a long way to go. "This win is a great lift and it's now about getting our home form right."
