Whitlow raring to go

Burton caretaker boss Mike Whitlow is looking forward to taking the reins for the first time this weekend.

Whitlow was appointed on a temporary basis after boss Gary Rowett left for Championship strugglers Birmingham this week. The club's academy manager is confident the Brewers will bounce back from losing their manager when they host Plymouth Argyle on Saturday. "I won't need to motivate anyone," Whitlow said. "Gary has put together a good, honest group and I need to make sure they have a go on Saturday. "We want to go out and give a good account of ourselves and I guarantee that they will work their socks off. If they don't work as hard as they can then they won't be involved because it's all I've ever known and all I expect." Whitlow said he would be enlisting the help of players Ian Sharps and Lee Bell during his spell in charge. "You can never get enough help with things, and we're on the same wavelength in what we're trying to do," he said. "I'm really looking forward to it."
