Burton have completed the signing of midfielder John Mousinho on a two-year contract.

Mousinho arrives at the Pirelli Stadium on a free transfer having been released by League One club Preston last month. The 28-year-old becomes Brewers boss Gary Rowett's third new acquisition of the summer after deals for defenders Shane Cansdell-Sherriff and George Taft. "We're delighted to sign John. He was our number one target for the summer and he's a fantastic player," Rowett told the club's official website. "He brings experience from playing at League One level before, as well as his size and athleticism. He's primarily a central midfielder, but he can also play in defence and we're really pleased to sign him." Mousinho began his professional career at Brentford in 2005, making 72 appearances for the Bees before moving on three years later. He has spent time with Wycombe and Stevenage, where he won promotion in 2011 after scoring the winning goal in the League Two play-off final. Since signing for Preston two years ago, Mousinho has had loan spells at Gillingham and back at Stevenage.
