Injury heartache for Cuvelier

Port Vale's on-loan midfielder Florent Cuvelier will miss the rest of the season after a scan showed he damaged cruciate knee ligaments.

Cuvelier, borrowed from League One rivals Sheffield United last week, suffered the injury just 33 minutes into his Vale debut on Saturday after falling awkwardly and twisting his knee as his studs caught in the turf. It has yet to be decided whether the 21-year-old former Stoke player will remain at Vale Park for treatment or return to his parent club. "First and foremost, I feel for the lad. He wanted to show what he can do here and then this happens," said Vale assistant manager Mark Grew. "I want to wish him well and hope he comes back as soon as possible."
