Gary Rowett believes Burton will be a better side next season after they came up short in the League Two play-offs.
Rowett guided Albion to fourth place this campaign, the club's highest finish in the Football League. The 39-year-old saw his team win the first leg of their semi-final with Bradford 3-2 at Valley Parade, but a trip to Wembley in the final eluded the Brewers as the Bantams won 3-1 at the Pirelli Stadium to take the tie 5-4 on aggregate. Rowett had already started preparing for next term and insists his plans are not significantly changed by the fact that Burton will remain in League Two. "I genuinely think that we can produce a better side next season," he said. "I think that we've learned a lot this season, although there are still one or two things we'd like to do better. "We weren't going to spend stupid money to get into League One, so we're still looking at players who will either get us into League One or keep us in League Two - it's no different. "It will be players like Robbie Weir and Damien McCrory, who have hunger and drive. "There will be some changes again. We've already looked at it and there needs to be some. But what we have is a real core, a nucleus who will be here next season."
