Gary Rowett praised his Burton players for their battling performance before going down to a late defeat at Cheltenham.
The deadlock was eventually broken by Chris Zebroski who pounced from close range in the 86th minute.
"In terms of an away performance against a really tough side in this division, we did brilliantly well," Rowett said. "I am proud of the performance and I think it shows a lot about us as a team.
"We weathered a lot of set pieces and it looked like that might be there only way of getting a goal, but fair play to Cheltenham, they kept going and got one."
Zebroski pounced after Oxley spilt the ball following a goalmouth scramble caused by a Billy Jones corner.
"It was probably the most fortunate set piece they had and Ox (Mark Oxley) tried to land on it and it was a bad goal to concede," Rowett added.
"But we had one or two opportunities and with more composure we could have taken them."
