Brewers begin squad shake-up

Image: Dyer: Signed contract extension

Jack Dyer and Adi Yussuf have signed new contracts at Burton, while five players have left as preparations for next season begin.

Dyer, 20, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal while 19-year-old striker Yussuf has extended his stay at the Pirelli Stadium by another 12 months. Albion are still in talks with midfielder Jimmy Phillips about a new contract. Young goalkeeper James Wren, defenders Danny Blanchett and Kristian Ramsey-Dickson and midfielder Andres Gurrieri have been told they have no future at the club. Patrick Ada has also been released but the central defender has been told he could be offered terms pending the outcome of a legal situation away from football. Other players who are out of contract will not learn their fate until a permanent successor to Paul Peschisolido is named. Caretaker manager Gary Rowett felt it would be "unfair" of him to make decisions on more experienced and long-serving players while his own position at the club remained unresolved. Meanwhile, Burton will host Championship neighbours Derby in a pre-season friendly on July 28.
