Knill: We must lift ourselves

Scunthorpe boss Alan Knill bemoaned another disappointing performance after a 1-0 home defeat to relegation rivals Walsall.

On-loan Stoke midfielder Florent Cuvelier scored the winner to dump the Iron back into the League One bottom four. "For some reason it is just not happening for us at home this season and it is so frustrating," he said. "How we did not get something out of this game, I just do not know. "They have scored from their only shot of the first half. It was a poor goal for us to give away and it has cost us dearly. We had a right go at them in the second half but we just could not put the ball in the back of the net. "It wasn't that we didn't create the chances but it was just one of those nights when it didn't happen for us. That is really disappointing because this was the chance to move six points clear of the bottom four. "But we can't feel sorry for ourselves. We have to lift ourselves quickly back up again because the games continue to come thick and fast. And I am still confident that if we continue to play like this, we will pull clear to safety."
