Southend striker Matt Paterson is hoping to earn a contract at League Two rivals Oxford this summer.
Paterson, 21, will join up with Oxford while on trial during their pre-season tour of America next week. Southend have opted not to hand Paterson, who scored six goals in 31 appearances for the club, a squad number for next season. He spent time on loan at Stockport last season where he netted three times in 10 games.
