Calvin Zola heads a list of eight players set to be released by Crewe following the release of the retained list.
Zola was a high-profile signing in the summer of 2008, arriving from Tranmere in a £200,000 deal. But he has failed to hit it off at Gresty Road and spent the second half of this season on loan at League Two rivals Burton. The striker, along with Patrick Ada, Mat Mitchel-King, Joel Grant, Danny Blanchett, Lewis Short, Ashley Westwood and Bartlek Fogler, will not be offered new contracts. However, Adam Dugdale, Harry Davis, Byron Moore and this season's top scorer Clayton Donaldson have been offered new deals. The club have also taken up the option of extending Antoni Sarcevic's stay by a further year.
