Brewers boss hails striker

Burton manager Paul Peschisolido has hailed Richard Walker after the striker made his return in the goalless draw with Barnet.

Walker made his first appearance for the Brewers since February as a second-half substitute at Underhill and Peschisolido is delighted with the way the player has put fitness and weight problems behind him. "Rich came on with a point to prove at Barnet, and I thought he looked sharp and held the ball up well," Peschisolido told the Burton Mail. "He gave us a little bit more aggression and tried to show me that I shouldn't forget about him. I was very pleased with his contribution and he's certainly given me some food for thought. "I didn't go with him very often last season because I wasn't happy with his fitness, but I did tell him in the summer that I would hold off signing another striker to give him another chance. "We've worked really hard with him and, in fairness, he's done a lot off his own bat in terms of extra training, running and sorting out his diet. He's sharper and slimmer, and I know he wants to fight his way back into the team and prove himself to the fans."
