Burton boss hoping defender returns at his best

Burton Albion manager Paul Peschisolido insists he will not rush Ryan Austin back into action following a long-term injury. Austin missed most of the League Two campaign after damaging a cruciate knee ligament in November. Peschisolido has now confirmed the club have agreed a short-term deal with the 25-year-old, meaning he will report for pre-season. The Canadian is happy for the defender to take his time recovering and is crossing his fingers he can regain full fitness and form.

Deal

"We've agreed a short-term deal with Ryan at the moment," Peschisolido told the club's official website. "He will definitely be coming back for pre-season which I am delighted about. We aren't going to rush him at all. "He needs to work back towards his match fitness and if he can get back to the level he was performing at before his injury it will be like having a new signing for us. "If that's the case then we will definitely be looking at a proper contract for him."
