Midfielder returns to first club following Macclesfield release

Midfielder Lee Bell has made an emotional return to Crewe on a two-year deal. The 27-year-old has re-joined his former club following his release from Macclesfield, where he was named player of the year last season. Bell originally came through the Railwaymen's Academy and made his debut for the club in the 2002/03 season. He went on to make 71 appearances, scoring three times before joining Mansfield in August 2007.

Delighted

He is now delighted to have returned to Alexandra Stadium, telling the club's official website: "It is good to be back and if I'm honest once I knew Crewe could be interested in re-signing me, there was really only one place I wanted to go. "It was something I just couldn't turn down and I am absolutely delighted to be back. "I was offered better money elsewhere but coming back to Crewe is just the perfect move for me because I know this club inside out and my family are settled in the area."
